Family law regulates any and all personal and financial relationships involving family members. The three main areas where conflicts can potentially arise are:
- Marriage: including celebration of nuptials, the economic and personal responsibilities that arise from this (such as matrimonial economic regimes) and possible separation, divorce or annulment.
- Parenthood: encompasses both marital and extramarital filiation as well as adoption.
- Guardianship: involving the custody of minor or disabled persons and visitation rights, always keeping in mind the best interests of the vulnerable parties.
